When you're Canon 30D shutter is going bad... 1/27/09
Here are some sample pictures from a Canon 30D that was starting to have a problem with the shutter.
When this problem first occurred several tests where done to determine the issue. Various lenses were test on the camera body in question, and those same lenses were tested on other SLR camera bodies.
After it was determined that the lens was not the problem the camera body was put through more tests. Going through a range of setting changes, it was determined that the issue could be recreated when the shutter speed was above 1/400th of a second. With these results it became apparent that the shutter was in fact the problem.
This is the Canon 30D shutter.
The following pictures show the problem that created the problem in the above pictures.
This problem can affect other cameras such as the Canon EOS Rebel XT, XTi, Xs or the Canon EOS 20D, 30D, 40D, 50D, 5D, and 1D series cameras.
